hammer and wrench Data language

Manage data languages – assign locales, set the order and define a primary language.

HOW-TO ADMINISTRATOR UPDATED: JUL 2026 APPLIES TO NUCLOS 4.2026.X

On this page

Menu Administration → Data language. To maintain field content multilingually, the administrator must add at least one data language (applies instance-wide).

Assigning languages

The screen shows all valid locales (country-language combinations) on the left and those assigned to the instance on the right. Assigned ones disappear on the left; deselected ones return there.

Order & primary language

  • Order: languages higher up are weighted higher (e.g. on the login page).
  • Primary language: exactly one language must be primary. Its content lives in the main records and serves as base values when no other language is requested.

Changing the primary language

If a new primary language is set on an already internationalized instance, its content is copied into the main records and the old primary language's values are overwritten (kept only in the language tables unless the language is removed there).

Enable an attribute

Enable multilingualism for the desired attribute in the BO wizard – details see Internationalizing business objects.
