When to migrate?

This guide assumes a switch to Nuclos ≥ 4.50. Old Jasper reports in the database can be adapted to the current Jasper version via the management console – ideally automatically. This fixes warnings but is not mandatory: if your reports look as usual and there are no warnings in the log, you may keep them in the old version.

Prerequisite: update fonts

Under Configuration → Nuclet, check the Extensions of each nuclet for outdated font JARs. Recreate the font extension in Jaspersoft Studio and replace the old JAR in the nuclet.

Migration via the management console

  1. Open Administration → Management Console….
  2. Choose the command -migrateJasperReports.
  3. Run it without parameters first – the output shows which reports are current and which need migrating.
  4. Then migrate automatically with -patch -removeDeprecatedPdfFonts.
  5. To migrate again with other parameters, add -forceAll.

Parameters

ParameterEffect
-patchperforms the migration (without: information only).
-forceAllmigrates all reports, not just older ones.
-removeDeprecatedPdfFontsremoves the deprecated „pdfFont“ tag.
-overwriteReportFonts "<font>"sets all font names (default: „DejaVu Sans“).

Outputs include: Successfully patched …, Patching failed for …, Found … report(s) matching/with a newer version. Check reports with a newer version particularly carefully.
