What is the multi-selection combobox?

The multi-selection combobox maps a 1:N relationship between the main record and several referencing side records – single-line, since only one attribute is relevant for display (unlike a subform).

Requirements for the BO

a reference field to the layout BO,
a reference field to a suggestion BO,
no further mandatory fields (otherwise no entries can be created).

Configuration

The component is in the palette category data components. It is unlabelled – add a caption via a static label if needed. Choose a qualified entity under Business object; foreign key and display reference are set automatically when configured correctly.

Display text

The display text comes from the BO attribute configuration „link to other business objects“ – or from a value list provider if one is chosen.

Example: tags on articles

Create BO Tags with attribute name.
Create BO ArticleTags with two reference fields (to Article and Tag).
Select ArticleTags in the layout editor – the fields are determined automatically.
