What is a nuclet?

A nuclet is a building block for business applications based on Nuclos. It consists solely of configuration content and parameters (entities, layouts, processes, business rules, reports …) and stays strictly separate from Nuclos. This makes it changeable at runtime – without recompilation – and easy to exchange between companies and users.

Building block or template?

There are two types, technically distinguished by the UID (globally unique id per component):

Nuclet (building block)Nuclon (template)
Customisableno (convert to nuclon first)yes, freely
Updatableyes, to newer versionsno
Marker in the treelock icontemplate icon
Reuse componentsnoyes, even partly
Protect codeobfuscation possible

Converting

Deleting the UIDs turns a nuclet into a nuclon; generating UIDs turns a nuclon into a new building block.

Creating a nuclet

On creation the system assigns the local identifier. For the main nuclet, tick Master Nuclet.

Creating a new nuclet.

Extensions

Nuclet extensions / project dependency in the pom.xml: when ticked, the JAR is ignored – intended for local development where an IDE deploys the dependency into the Tomcat process.
